Honoring the Start of the Revolutionary War

Montgomery Post 912 of the American Legion will host an America 250 event on July 12 to commemorate the start of the Revolutionary War. The event will honor General Richard Montgomery, namesake of both Fort Montgomery and the Post, and Revolutionary War veteran Jacques Rouse, for whom the Village of Rouses Point is named.

Remarks will be given by historian and author Art Cohen and Village of Rouses Point Historian Brandon Racine. The program will also feature Color Guards from regional veteran and fire organizations, as well as participation from American Legion Post 1619’s Revolutionary War Honor Guard. Local officials from the Town of Champlain and surrounding villages have been invited.
